Slovenia is a relatively small country in area, half the size of Switzerland for example, tucked into a mountainous corner between Austria, Italy, Hungary, Croatia, and the Adriatic Sea.

The Slovenian sense of identity is closely linked to the Slovene language, which is spoken by only two million people, and which has also been preserved by the lively cultural life of Slovenia.

Slovenia is a hospitable country that surprises its visitors with the abundance of traditional Slovenian food as well as culinary masterpieces that originated outside the country but have received a Slovenian touch.
