Itinerary
Day 1:
Located between the two mountains Kapuzinerberg and Mönchsberg and the River Salzach, Salzburg is a picturesque city with small alleys, quaint colourful town homes, rich castles and palaces, neat gardens and a high density of churches and monasteries. Salzburg is a city whose hidden corners and romantic streets unveil new impressions time and time again.
Day 2:
Cycle along the river Salzach to Oberndorf (the Christmas Carol “Silent Night” was written here) then onto Trumer lake country – Obertrumer See, lake Mattsee, lake Grabensee and finally lake Wallersee. 28 to 34 miles.
Day 3:
Cycle past the idyllic lake Irrsee onto Mondsee (wedding scene of Sound of Music), along lake Mondsee to Attersee. 31 to 37 miles.
Day 4:
Start the day with a boat trip to Weyregg, then through the picturesque valley of Aurachtal to Lake Traunsee. On the way visit the impressive old town of Gmunden, Altmünster and Traunkirchen. 28 to 34 miles
Day 5:
By train from Traunsee to Obertraun on lake Hallstatt. Then onto the picturesque village of Hallstatt, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The day ends in Bad Goisern or nearby. 12 to 22 miles.
Day 6:
Via Bad Ischl along the river Ischler Ache to the idyllic Lake Wolfgangsee.22 miles.
Day 7:
On the cycle path to St. Gilgen you will do a short walking tour to Kühleiten (your bicycles are transferred by bus). This makes a pleasant change to the days cycling. Then you descend to Lake Hintersee and through the gorge Strubklamm to the idyllic Wiestall valley. Through the gorge Glasenbachklamm to the Salzach valley and finally Salzburg. 30 miles
Day 8:
Individual Departure from Salzburg.
