It seemed like a good idea: plenty of exercise, fresh
air, unfettered time together. We booked through
an internet-based company called Freedom Treks.
At the time, it specialised in independent cycling
trips, though it now offers other outdoor adventure
challenges too. Passau (on the German border) to
Vienna along the Danube River, colourfully called the
Blue Danube Cycle, rated just one star for difficulty,
“ideal for families and first time bike trekkers”....
