Itinerary

Day 1 (Saturday):

Arrive in Passau to board the MS THEODOR KÖRNER at 5.00pm. The crew welcomes you on board with a cocktail before dinner.

Day 2 (Sunday):

Downstream, the route leads you to pretty villages amid natural landscape. Need a boost? Try some of the special cordials and liqueurs in the Trappist monastery in Engelszell. Supposedly they have “special healing powers”. Let yourself relax on the sun deck after a successful day while the ship takes you through the romantic Schlögener loop, where the river makes a very abrupt 180 degree turn. After dinner discover Linz, the capital of upper Austria. 31 miles.

Day 3 (Monday):

You ride through quaint rural regions and fascinating countryside, past adorable towns and villages to Grein. In the evening you can take a stroll in this picturesque little town. 22 miles.

Day 4 (Tuesday):

The ship takes you through the Strudengau, an infamous constriction in the river, where the current is very strong. You then cycle through the gentle Nibelungen valley to Emmersdorf, separated from Melk only by a single bridge. Overnight your ship sails to Vienna 32 miles.

Day 5 (Wednesday):

On your way to Bratislava you will be accompanied by the sound of birds as you cycle through mystic alluvial forests which is the Donauauen National Park. The distance can be shortened by using the train. In the evening your ship will cruise back to Vienna but not before you have explored the Old Town of Bratislava. 34 to 46 miles.

Day 6 (thursday):

A day of “rest” as you go sightseeing around Vienna

Day 7 (Friday):

Your last cycle day – an enchanting ride through the Wachau. In Spitz you will find cosy wine taverns directly besides the bike path. You owe it to yourself to take a break! After dinner you discover some hidden talents amongst the crew during a show. 22 miles

Day 8 (Saturday):

As you cruise through the Danube valley you get one last look at the Schlögener loop, before you leave the ship in Passau, at approximately 2.30pm
