The "Tarin" is the boat used on this tour and is a two-masted yacht , 23m long and 6 m wide. Her 10 cabins are all above the water level. Five cabins have a double bed (140cm wide) and two of those feature an additional bunk bed. The other cabins have two separate bunks that may be aligned beside each other or on two levels. The fore sundeck measures 40 m2, the upper deck 60 m2. Together with the large saloon, captain Nevio’s "Tarin“ offers ample space for her passengers.

We use a German operator for these holidays, and as other agents in Europe and America, such as ourselves, sell these tours it is likely you will have a mix of German and other nationalities on this tour adding to the cultural enjoyment.

Cycling holiday in Croatia - Istrioan Peninsula

Itinerary

Map of Istria cruise and cycle holiday

Day 1 (Sunday):

Individual arrival in Rovinj, the pearl of Istria. Rovinj is one of the most charming and romantic but nevertheless
lively Croatian coastal towns. Winding alleys full of beautiful details lure you uphill through the old town to the
church on top. From here you will be able to admire the view on the lovely, rocky bay with its numerous sailing yachts.

The cabins on the motor yacht will be ready for you from 11 am. At 1 pm the ship will leave and take you to Poreč, the starting point for your first cycling tour to Novigrad. Overnight stay in Novigrad. 12 miles

Day 2 (Monday):

Along the coast and later on through the backcountry you will cycle all the way to Umag, where you can see the remains of the city walls and the charming old town. In the afternoon there is another bike tour of an additional 20 km to visit remote villages on the Savudrija peninsula with various viewpoints over the sea towards Slovenia. 15 or 28 miles

Day 3 (tuesday):

The route today leads you from Umag through extensive wine fields to Visnjan, the home of the famous white Boskarin cattle. Here you can enjoy an Espresso and afterwards you will cycle on asphalted roads and through old villages to Poreč, where the ship will be waiting for you. In the afternoon you can stroll through the picturesque old town with its enchanting patios and wide view over the sea. 19 miles

Day 4 (Wednesday):

From Poreč you will cycle to the shore of the Lim-channel, where we will have lunch in one of the famous caves - the local oysters enjoy a special reputation. Near to this cave you will have opportunity for swimming. Afterwards you cycle to Vrsar where the ship will be waiting for you. Along the way you can try the delicious Istrian cheese, olive oil and Grappa. The ship will take you to Pula, the most important port of Istria with an impressive cultural heritage from Roman times. 22 miles

Day 5 (Thursday):

In the morning your cycling tour will start in the harbour of Pula and will lead you nearby the coast to the southernmost
point of Istria. On asphalted roads you will continue your tour to Medulin, a beautiful village which you will easily recognize by its two white bell towers. From Medulin you will return to Pula. In the evening crossover to Brijuni. 19 miles

Day 6 (Friday):

Until the death of Tito in 1980 the paradise-like islands of Brijuni were a prohibited area, reserved for the government
elite and their guests. During a relaxed and enjoyable bike-tour you will explore every corner of this subtropical park of nature and get to know its rich flora and illustrious fauna. In the afternoon the ship will take you to Barbariga where you will spend the night. 12 miles

Day 7 (Saturday):

While having breakfast the ship will take you to Rovinj. Along expanded seaside promenades you will cycle to a famous wine-growing region and in a vineyard you will have an opportunity to taste one of the best wines of Istria as well as some cheese. Later on you will return to Rovinj for a guided tour through the unique old town. 12 miles

Day 8 (Sunday):

Guests are expected to check out after breakfast, i.e. by 9 am.

Sometimes it is necessary to make alterations to the itinerary, depending on wind and weather conditions or organisational requirements. Sometimes the tour will be conducted in reverse. The tour of Brijuni may be conducted without bicycles
