Itinerary

Day 1:


Arrival in Trier, the oldest city in Germany. See the amphitheatre, the Emperors’ thermal spring, the Porta Nigra, the Triumphal Arc, the Basilica, the medieval city walls and much more. In any case you should visit a traditional restaurant in the evening and try the unique Riesling.

Day 2:


Today you will cycle through former Roman settlements and winegrowing villages such as Longuich, Köwerich and Leiwen to Trittenheim. In the vineyards above the village you can enjoy a wonderful view over the Mosel valley. 22 miles

Day 3:

The Mosel meanders through narrow loops between Eifel and Hunsrück. Passing Germany’s oldest wine town, Neumagen-Dhorn, you will reach Piesport with an impressive and renovated Roman winepress from the 3rd century. Then it’s on to the health resort of Zeltingen with its many buildings in the baroque style of the Mosel region. 22 miles

Day 4:

Wine lovers will enjoy this day with numerous vineyards tempting you to taste the regional wine. Passing Traben-Trarbach you reach the Mosel bend at Zell the so-called “Zeller Hamm”. You can enjoy a breathtaking view from Marien castle on the mountaintop. 26 miles

Day 5:

The village of Bremm is a highlight of the tour with its charming houses and numerous small alleys built around a bend in the river. Passing Beilstein you will reach Cochem, one of the main towns of the Mosel landscape, famous for its old part of town with imposing fortress grounds and the Reichsburg . Overnight in Treis-Karden. 29 miles

Day 6:

You cycle along the Mosel to Moselkern. From there you should make an excursion to the nearby fairytale castle Eltz with numerous small towers, battlements and oriels. The medieval village Kobern-Gondorf with its timber framed houses around the market square invites you to linger. You continue between the Mosel and the steep vineyards through Winningen to Koblenz, the end point of your cycling holiday. 31 miles
