Folklore and tradition in rural areas and romantic fishing villages; on this tour you will cycle across a distinctly rural environment. During the 17th century this former marsh land area was recovered from the sea. Enjoy the island of Texel, a must for all bird watchers, and the beautiful shores and historic harbour towns of the Ussellake. Visit windmills, traditional wooden houses and a cheese farm. Embarkation is in Amsterdam and places to visit include the museum village of Zaanse Schans, North Sea beaches, Edam and Volendam. Opportunity to taste the local speciality of smoked eel or salted herring in one of the harbours and to visit a wooden shoe factory.
