Itinerary
Day 1:
Arrival in Assisi. Time to explore the town with its little alleys and squares. On the 'Piazza del Comune' is the famous Roman temple of Minerva. Your overnight stay is in a hotel situated 3km from Assisi.
Day 2:
The route leads you through the valley of Spoleto, passing through Montefalco, also named 'the Balcony of Umbria' because of its fantastic panorama, Bevagna with its two Romanesque churches in the mediaeval square, to Torgiano, a fortified village situated on a hill with a 'palazzo' and wine museum . 40 miles
Day 3:
This day is either a rest day or you can ride to neighbouring Perugia. With its mediaeval centre, renaissance palaces, churches, museums and many galleries to explore, this is worth a visit. Then it is back to Torgiano. 25 miles
Day 4:
Today the cycling is through a hilly landscape to arrive finally at the little fishing village S.Feliciano with a magnificent view of Lake Trasimero and its islands.

Day 5:
During this stage you cycle through unspoilt scenery to the quiet little town of Umbertide. The majestic tower is all that remains of the castle of 1385 that dominates the centre.

Day 6:
Today you will reach the medieval village of Gubbio. Worthwhile visiting on the way are the palaces, the Roman theatre and the monastery S.Ubaldo, which is built on a mountain 827m high and can be reached by cableway. Your overnight stay will be close to the historical centre. 34 miles
Day 7:
You still have a hard climb ahead of you through a rolling landscape, but after that follows a well-deserved easy descent to Assisi. 34 miles

Departure from Assisi to start your homeward journey.
