Itinerary

Day 1:

Arrival in Bratislava one of the youngest capitals in Europe. The rich mix of cultures and nations has left its mark in the language spoken here and also in the customs, cuisine and lifestyle. Take time out for a coffee in any of the many cafes.

Day 2:

You will be transferred to the start point alongside the Danube where you will also receive your bikes. Leave Bratislava passing Karlova Ves and heading to 9th century Castle Devin, well worth a visit. Then alongside the River Morava, the border between Austria and Slovakia, to Vysoka. Finally arriving in Stupava famous for jug making and ceramics. 31 miles

Day 3:

Today there are some climbs but not too demanding as you cross the Small Carpathian Mountains near Bratislava, passing a couple of ruined castles, through Svaty Jur surrounded by vineyards and heading to the historic town of Modra, now famous for its winemaking. Enjoy the unspoilt main square and visit one of the local wine cellars for some tasting. 25 miles

Day 4:

Today visit one of the most impressive castles in Slovakia, Cerveny Kamen (red rock). After lunch cycle to the town of Senec famous for its sunny lakes. 28 miles

Day 5:

Cycle to the spa town Dunajska Streda in the Carpathian basin north of the Danube. Experience the thermal waters that this town is well known for. 31 miles

Day 6:

Today you are cycling along the banks of the River Danube all the way back to Bratislava. An easier option is to catch a train in Dunajska Streda heading to Bratislava and get off about half way and cycle the rest of the way. 34 miles

Day 7:

Day to explore Bratislava whether you want to browse around shops, go to some of the many art galleries, take in some live music or just relax in the squares of the centre. It combines elegance with charm. Visitors say that the city has a relaxed Mediterranean type atmosphere.
