Summary

Imagine a country 10% smaller than England but with only 10 million inhabitants. The roads seem impossibly quiet to visitors. The scenery changes from coast to farmland, eucalyptus forest, cork plantations, whitewashed villages and towns. The Alentejo region of Portugal enjoys year-round sunshine and warm temperatures making it an ideal location to extend summer activities into the winter months.

Accommodation will be arranged in small hotels and guesthouses in the villages of Almograve, Zambujeira do Mar, Odeceixe, São Teotónio, Odemira and Vilanova de Milfontes. There you will find typical restaurants to taste the traditional dishes as well as fresh fish and shellfish, and shops and supermarkets to buy your daily supplies.

The area is not densely populated and during your walking you will not find many villages with bars or shops, so it is always necessary to carry enough food and especially water for the whole day.
