Gruyère cheese is famous the world over, but wouldn't you like to see for yourself the countryside that it comes from? This is Swiss chocolate box scenery par excellence. Alpine inns and cheese making huts, "buvettes" (literally simple little drinking establishments) where in summer you can stop for refreshments, are all waiting for you on your way over the green alpine pastures. Local cheese and local wine goes hand in hand. After Les Pléiades, where in spring you'll be overwhelmed by the fields of flowering jonquils, Lake Geneva smiles up at you with its many winegrowing villages all with melodious sounding names; St Saphorin, Epesses, or Villette. It just wouldn't be right not to stop at one of them to taste a drop of the famous Lavaux wine.
This holiday can be organised as 5 days/4 nights starting at Gruyères. Cost is reduced to £345pp
