Welcome to the newly established Via Alpina! The Via Alpina is a European project involving the eight Alpine countries with the goal of establishing signposted hiking trails crossing all eight countries, taking in most of the Alpine massifs and promoting the natural and cultural heritage of the Alps. In Switzerland the Via Alpina runs through the Alps from east to west in two variations.

This 6-day hiking trip will take you on the section from Meiringen to Lenk. A long-distance walk of unrivalled beauty awaits you! The Via Alpina is not simply a walk; it's much more. Leading you through valleys and gorges, past the three “Proud Swiss” Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau right to the Swiss holiday resort Adelboden-Lenk. Also known as the “Bear Trail” from old times when only bears and wolfs were able to trot this route. However do not count on meeting any bears nowadays! Just enjoy the perfect magnificent beauty of the Alps! The effort you put into it will be amply rewarded by gaining an unforgettable alpine experience. You will cross some of the most spectacular mountain passes. On your way from Meiringen to Lenk you will experience the world of mountain peaks, glaciers, rock faces and alpine meadows from close up. The Via Alpina also passes through pretty valleys, picturesque villages and destinations with famous names. The Via Alpina is for the practised hiker - daily hikes are anything from 5 to 7 hours, although on most sections the walk may be shortened by using mountain trains or cable-cars.
