Itinerary

Day 1 (Sunday):

Arrive in Leibnitz, a short train ride from Graz

Day 2 (Monday):

To start with you walk on holy terrain to the Seggauer and Women’s hill with its Roman excavation sites. In the early afternoon you arrive at “Buschenschank”, a typical rural inn, where you can relax and taste the excellent home produced food. Afterwards descend to the wine-town Gamlitz. 8 miles, 4 hours

Day 3 (Tuesday):

Through vineyards you walk towards the Slovenian boarder, where the well known South Styrian Wine Street is located. Along the road there are a number of small inviting inns in which to stop for refreshment. At the last station you can take the taxi back to Gamlitz 8.5 miles, 4.5 hours

Day 4 (Wednesday):

Today you will breath in the special scented air as you walk past the vineyards enjoying many beautiful views. Notice the first “Klapotetz”. (A “Klapotetz” is a kind of wooden scarecrow that makes clip-clap sounds in the wind.) Tonight you stay in Leutschach. 10 miles, 5 hours

Day 5 (Thursday):

The route leads you to the Holy-Ghost Gorge and up on the bordering ridge. Marvellous view over the vineyards on both sides and over the Styrian Tuscany. 2nd night in Leutschach 9 miles, 5 hours

Day 6 (Friday):

Today you walk to the scenic view point on the little mount Kreuzberg, where you have an overview over your tour course. Down in the valley you can visit the Celtic Hallstatt Museum and take some refreshments. Kitzeck – where you stay for the night – is the highest wine-town of Europe. 12.5 miles, 6 hours

Day 7 (Saturday):

Crossing two ridges you walk back to Leibnitz. Enjoy the quietness along the vineyards and take a look back at Kitzeck – simply marvellous. You can either cross the Seggauer hill again back to Leibnitz or walk along the little river Sulm. And now you have really “walked for the South Styrian Wine”. 10 miles, 5.5 hours

Day 8 (Sunday):

Depart from Leibnitz
