Itinerary
Day 1:
Arrival in Juliénas, a good name for wine, which you will be able to taste.
Day 2:
Take a stroll around the weekly market in the centre of
Juliénas. Today you follow the “Route des Crus du Beaujolais” via Chénas and Fleurie to Morgon. You will have a lovely panorama in Fleurie of the Val de Saône, the famous mill of the “Cru Moulin à Vent” and the Bresse and Dombes. 9 milesDay 3:
After breakfast you will go to Beaujeu crossing the “Beaujolais Vert” (the forest region of the Beaujolais). You will follow part of the “Route des Crêtes” (Rochefort). The views are wonderful. 12miles
Day 4:
After breakfast, you will explore the Beaujolais region following the River l’Ardières. You will discover the “Mont-Brouilly” (Brouilly being the cru furthest south) before reaching Perréon. 16 miles
Day 5:
After breakfast, you will set off for the famous village of Clochemerle which inspired Gabriel Chevallier for his picturesque book. Heading for Montmelas and its famous medieval chateau, you will come to the region of “Pierres Dorées”, the prettiest area of the Beaujolais. Overnight in Lacenas. 13 miles
Day 6:
After breakfast, you will visit marvellous villages and their châteaux: Jarnioux, Bagnols, Chessy… You will cross the valley of l’Azergues to Sarcey. 15miles
