Itinerary

Day 1:

Arrival in Blois. Discover this town centred on two steep hills with its winding and steep pathways and it’s château, once occupied by King Louis X11, offering a brilliant illustration of the evolution of French architecture from the Middle Ages to the 17th century.

Day 2:

Leaving Blois your first walking stage leads you through the forest to reach the pretty village Bracieux situated at the door of the Sologne area! 13 miles

Day 3:

Walking excursion to the prestigious Château of Chambord, the widest château of the Loire Valley, mainly built under King Francis 1 st, passing by the forest estate covering more than 13,000 acres. You return to Bracieux for the night. 13 miles

Day 4:

Today’s route stage takes you in the direction of Cheverny, well known for its château made famous by Tintin, still inhabited by the owners and with strong hunting traditions. Then you proceed to the typical and charming village of Chitenay. 12 miles

Day 5:

Transfer by taxi to Oisly. Then, leaving the Sologne area through the vineyards, you will reach the Cher Valley and the villages of Bourré and Montrichard. Overlooked by vineyards, these villages that are so typical of the area contain caves - formed by medieval quarrying for the local stone – that are now used for the cultivation of mushrooms. 15 miles

Day 6:

Following the Cher river, today’s excursion will bring you to Chenonceaux, famous for its Renaissance château spanning the river and still steeped in memories of the famous ladies in French history - Diane de Poitiers and Catherine de Medicis – before returning to Montrichard. 18 or 15 miles

Day 7:

Leaving the River Cher to join the River Loire, you will cross the forest of Amboise before reaching the charming town of Amboise. Here you will have the opportunity to visit the Royal Château (where lived the most important Kings of France) or the Parc Leonardo Da Vinci, last home of Leonardo da Vinci sheltering an astonishing collection of models representing the fabulous inventions of this Renaissance genius. 13 miles

Day 8:

Departure from Amboise.
