Itinerary
Day 1:
Arrival in Avignon to stay inside the walled city for the first night. Discover the beauty of one of Provence’s great cities. Enjoy a meal or a drink in one of the many cafes and restaurants.
Day 2:
Transfer to Séguret voted one of France’s most beautiful villages. Walk to Gigondas, a village rising up from the vineyards with its 11 th century church. Overnight in Vacqueyras. Dinner provided. 6 hours, 11 miles.
Day 3:
Walk from Vacqueyras to le Barroux, a hilltop village dominated by its 12 th century castle and quiet streets set in the heart of the Dentelles de Montmirail, a range of hills that forms a lacework of limestone peaks. Overnight in Barroux. Dinner provided. 5½ hours, 9 miles.Day 4:
Walk from Le Barroux to Malaucène in the foothills of the Mont Ventoux, the "géant de Provence”. Your walk takes you through pine and cedar forests contrasting with the bare peaks of Mont Ventoux at 1,912 metres. Overnight in Malaucène. Dinner provided. 5 hours, 9 miles.
Day 5:
Today is a circular route called the Chapel trail from Malaucène, on the North foot of the Ventoux. You will come across a series of pilgrimage sites (as early as 12th century) where they prayed for rain. 7 hours, 13 miles.
Day 6:
Walk from Malaucène towards Vaison, another great day of discovery as you pass through beautiful areas such as the village of Crestet. Relax and enjoy the evening in Vaison with its Gallo-Roman remains, the largest archaeological site in France. 6 hours, 11 miles.
Day 7:
Transfer to Avignon. Spend the afternoon discovering the city or go on an optional walk to Villeneuve lez Avignon. 3 hours, 6 miles.
Day 8:
Trip ends after breakfast.
