  • Fly to Athens and then train/bus to Kamena Vourla

Day 1 (Saturday):

Arrival in Kamena Vourla.

Day 2 (Sunday):

In the afternoon there is a hike to Mount Knimida where the view is breath taking. An easy walk through fields, vineyards and woods so you get to know the area. 3 hours

Day 3 (Monday):

Leave the hotel and head for the area where the battle of Thermopyles took place and visit the statue of Leonidas. The hiking starts a bit higher, at the “path of Efialths”. It is said that this is the path that Efialths lead Xerxhs and his Persian army to defeat Leonidas and his army of 300. The view from the path is panoramic so you can see the battleground and imagine the whole thing. To continue there is a short hike up hill to a small lake from where it is an easy descent to the guesthouse. 7 hours

Day 4 (Tuesday):

Departure from the guesthouse and then an easy hike between mount Kalidromos and mount Parnassos. Around the mountains there used to be four large cities, two of which you will visit. To end your day you are going to the village of Amfiklia and visit the local bread museum. 4.5 hours

Day 5 (Wednesday):

Leaving Amfiklia on a mud street this leads to the neighbouring village of Polidrosso. Here the path passes the ancient temple of Apolonas and continues upwards to the village of Eptalofos. 4.5 hours

Day 6 (Thursday):

The path leads you to mount Livadi going through the Parnassos national park. A small detour takes you to Korikio Andro, a beautiful cave with stalactites and stalagmites. It was said that this cave was the gate to Hades and it was dedicated to the Nymphs. Return to the main path that leads you back down to the village with a spectacular view of Delfous. 5.5 hours

Day 7 (FRIday):

Visit and look around the archaeological site of Delfous.

Day 8 (SAturday):

Time to make your way home.
