Itinerary

Day 1 (Saturday):

Individual arrival at Chianni

Day 2 (Sunday):

You start your walking holiday from Miemo through the forests "Valle della Sterza" to the Langobardian fortress "Pietracassa" and then onto the alabaster town of Volterra, one of Tuscany's most evocative hilltowns. From the Etruscan gates to the remains of the Roman forum, you'll capture the real Italian hilltown experience here, and you'll do it with fewer tourists than nearby San Gimignano.

Day 3 (Monday):

Easy climb to a scenic summit in midst of the nature reserve of "Macchia della Magona". Enjoy stunning views over this harmonious part of Tuscany. You enter the village of Bolgheri through a single arched door and you feel as though time has stopped. In front of it there is the castle, with its red bricks, creating a contrast of colours with the green of the olive trees and the cypresses which surround it. After a tour of Bolgheri you will be have a wine tasting and an excellent dinner closes the day most satisfactory.

Day 4 (tuesday):

Transfer to National Park "San Rossore" where you will start your hiking tour through forests of Stone-oaks and Alder trees. Hike to the protected sand dunes, with scents and colours typical of the Mediterranean sea. In "Casa del Parco" you will taste local honey, cheese and pine-nuts. The day finishes with a tour of Pisa in the afternoon.

Day 5 (Wednesday):

Today you start in Piombino and hike through scented bushes with a soft breeze from the sea. Your destination is the ancient village Populonia and a stunning panorama view. Here you sustain yourself at one of the picnic places in the shades of medieval alleys and visit the necropolis of Baratti. The grave mounds and tombs in the form of churches were built in the 7th and 6th century BC. You can reflect about the interesting history of the Etruscans as you relax on the sandy beach of the Gulf of Baratti.

Day 6 (thursday):

Hiking tour to the fortified medieval town San Silvestro, made from white marble and built on white marble. We walk on the ridge enjoying a far view to the coast and hills until we reach picturesque village Campglia Marittima.
