Travel

  • Fly to Ljubljana . Train to Kranjska Gora
  • ( Transfer from Ljubljana airport to Kranjska Gora £30pp)
  • (Transfer from Bled to Ljubljana airport £25pp)

Itinerary

Day 1:


Arrive in Kranjska Gora, an alpine village in the beautiful scenery of western Julian Alps.

Day 2:


Walk along the former railway line Jesenice – Kranjska Gora as it goes slightly downhill. A short climb to Srednji vrh giving a magnificent viewpoint across the Spik mountain range. Continue through the valley of Sava Dolinka river, which rises on the Italian border. 9 0r 12 miles.

Day 3:

Short car transfer to the Krma Valley (if necessary). Hike through the Triglav National Park area, in the cooling shadows of the Radovna valley to Lake Bled. There are many natural sites to see, also WW2 monuments. 12 miles.

Day 4:

You have a f ree day to explore Bled – its Lake, island church with “The bell of wishes”, the castle on the rock. Or you can take a short circular walk to the Vintgar gorge of river Radovna - a mile long canyon with a waterfall at the end. When you return indulge yourself with the cream cake in Park hotel – famous throughout central Europe. 0 or 5 miles.

Day 5:

Car transfer to top of Pokljuka high plateau, where you begin a 8 mile downhill walk to Lake Bohinj. Hiking across mountain pastures and farmers lodges you reach a point with great views of Bohinj valley. In Studor village a farmers museum can be visited, set in an old, intact farmhouse. 13 miles.

Day 6:

A day for rest or an easy hike around Lake Bohinj (in the summer months you can swim in its crystal clear waters). You could visit the 70m high Savica waterfall or perhaps take a cable car ride up Vogel mountain - 1532 metres high. 0 or 9 miles.

Day 7:

Short car transfer, then walk along the panoramic road back to Lake Bled with great views of the Karawanke mountain range. 6 miles.

Day 8:

Departure after breakfast.
