28th August 2018Having upgraded to a central Bruges hotel, this short tour was pretty perfect. It was lovely to cycle out of Bruges everyday and enjoy the local landscapes, particularly the tree-lined canals, then enjoy Bruges in the evening when much of the crowds had disappeared. Bruges itself is stunning and around every corner is another attractive street. Climbing the bell tower and taking a boat ride are a must. The nearby town of Damme is also exceedingly attractive. This was a break of a few days but it felt like we had been away a week
25th June 2018Overall our 4 day Freedom Treks holiday was fantastic. We chose to stay at the hotel a little outside of Bruges as it was a little cheaper. And we could not be happier with our choice. The hotel was convenient to the bike routes, it was extremely easy to get in and out of Bruges on our bikes. The accommodations, food and hotel staff were excellent. The bike routes took us through some beautiful areas and gave us a true taste of cycling the paths in Belgium. I would suggest that for anyone doing this, if you are not familiar with how the bike route system works, that you research it a bit before you go. Although we had fun on our first day, we spent a good part of it lost. Pretty places to be lost though.
29th May 2018If you've never tried a cycling holiday before, you just can't go wrong with this company. From the pre-booking help and advice, to the trouble free booking and receiving of documents, right through to little details like the size of the bikes, and even a plastic pocket to keep the map and route information, everything is to hand to help the novice have a thoroughly enjoyable experience. We chose to venture on the 'romantic cycling around Brugge' holiday in Belgium as we knew that the countryside was bike-friendly and flat, and we were delighted with our experience. The pre-prepared routes were varied, coastal, rural, city, cultural, something for all. (But one could also plan individual routes due to the excellent map of cycle tracks provided). We did a bit of both, and only got 'lost' once"! The cycle network and signage is excellent in Belgium, even detours were highlighted in with temporary orange diversion route signs! We opted to stay at the standard hotel, it being so handy to get on to the cycle routes and with ample free parking. It was a wise choice, as the accommodation, staff and food was first class. All in all we thoroughly recommend anyone who enjoys cycling to go ahead and book a cycling holiday with Freedom Treks, you won't be disappointed. A big thank you to Sarah Dean who was an excellent ambassador for for the company and gave us the information and encouragement to venture on our first cycling holiday, which won't be our last!
1st May 2018Great tour! You can pick your own route and head out of town or stay in and explore Bruges. We stayed at the standard hotel and appreciated the quiet setting while still only a ten minute bike ride from the city center. There is a grocery store and also a laundry in walking distance (less than a mile).
25th September 2017We had high hopes for this tour and it definitely delivered. We never wanted it to end, such an amazing place, so perfectly suited to being explored on a bicycle.
29th November 2016Very enjoyable, largely traffic-free cycling in Western Flanders, with evenings spent in the beautiful city of Bruges.
18th October 2016A great, varied tour, just as we expected.
2nd September 2016Long but flat, easy rides along leafy canals but inland routes a bit dull.
25th July 2016A short break based in Bruges for those wanting some culture and to see the surrounding region. The route descriptions are pretty much fool proof. The location of the standard hotel is 3km from the city centre, which is good for peace and quiet but does mean you will have to travel in to the city in the evenings for dinner - not an issue since the bikes are available 24/7. There is nowhere to eat within walking distance of the hotel so be prepared to go into town at night unless you eat in the hotel. The only real downside to this trip is the quality of the bikes provided. They are very heavy city bikes and not ideally suited for the rides into the countryside.
15th July 2016Very good value. As someone who doesn't cycle much normally, but is reasonably fit, this was a great way to get some gentle exercise while exploring pretty countryside and villages and Bruges itself. The hotel and organisation were excellent and the cycle paths easy. A perfect taster cycling holiday.
