Cycling level - Easy

After your first day exploring the unique scenery and history of one of the Alps' most famous locations, Innsbruck, this self-guided tour begins with a private transfer that crosses the Austria-Italy border into Brennero and on to the top of the stunning Brenner Pass. From here your easy downhill cycle rides will take you into green valleys grazed by dairy cows, through romantic villages and medieval towns of South Tyrol, all with the snow-capped alps as a picture-perfect backdrop. There are also opportunities to shorten your rides by taking the train. Your tour continues as the Alps tumble into the beautiful shores of Lake Garda, before visiting some of Northern Italy’s most notable cities including Verona, Vicenza, Padova and finishing in the historic island city of Venice.

Riding with a backdrop of the forested slopes and snow-dusted peaks of the Bavarian Alps is an experience not to be missed! Cycle along quiet country roads and paths around crystal clear lakes and along sparkling rivers. There are no punishing rides up the mountain slopes, just a few gentle inclines with unmatched scenery. As an additional treat why not take the Zugspitzbahn mountain railway up to Germany’s highest mountain, the Zugspitze (2,962m), for stunning views across the Alps.

If you’re looking for something a little different, we recommend the stunning coastal fjords and towering mountains of Sunnhordland in Norway. This tour starts in Bergen, famous for having 7 mountains surrounding the pretty city. This region boasts endless breath-taking landscapes that just beg to be explored by bike. The rolling terrain offers cycling through picturesque villages with their old wooden houses and coastal views with stunning mountain backdrops that have to be seen to be believed.

Mount Aso in Japan

As part of our nine-night tour which explores the best of Japan, you can cycle the foot of Mount Nakadake and hike around the world’s largest volcanic crater on Mount Aso. It is possible to hike Mount Aso, and admire the impressive Aso plain, here legend has it that the outer crater was once a lake, but one day the god of the mountain kicked open the only gap, emptying the water and leaving the plain fit for cultivation. Relax with traditional ‘onsen’ steam baths, delicious cuisine and stays in authentic ryokans.
