What to expect

Walk in the footsteps of famous explorers as you uncover the magic of the amazing UNESCO temples of Angkor on this four-night tour, that is perfectly suited to families. From your base in the vibrant city Siem Reap, you will visit the magnificent temples of Bayon and Ta Prohm and marvel at the intricate carvings, grand buildings and trees growing out of the ruins.

Cycling includes rides through countryside, where you will meet friendly locals and get to see there way of life. This tour includes special activities for the kids, including a Cirque de Soleil style circus show and kayaking on placid Lake Tonle Sap. A language lesson, pottery class and visits to local markets will keep the whole family entertained, your hotel also has a swimming pool to enjoy and relax at between your adventures.

Itinerary

  • Day 1 (Tue): Arrive in Siem Reap

    You will be met at the airport before checking into your hotel. After a welcome dinner we enjoy a Cirque de Soleil style acrobatic circus folklore show at a non-profit school. If you are arriving earlier an optional circus workshop can be arranged (min 4 people).

  • Day 2 (Wed): Temples, language lesson and a local market 17 miles (27 km)

    Cycle between the temples of Angkor Wat, starting at the famous Ta Prohm, the setting for Tomb Raider, with fig and silk-cotton trees growing out of its ruins. After visiting Banteay Kdei, you will eat lunch at Marum, an initiative that trains locals in hospitality. After lunch, you will have an introduction to the Khmer language lesson and a visit to the local market before visiting Phom Bok temple and a short trek through the jungle.

  • Day 3 (Thu): Angkor Wat and Bayon

    Today we will cycle towards Angkor Thom and the Bayon temple. After climbing to the top of the steps of Baphuon we visit the amazing Angkor Wat. In the afternoon have fun in a pottery lesson, then head back to the hotel for a swim, before enjoying a BBQ in the evening.

  • Day 4 (Fri): Kayaking on Lake Tonle Sap and Roulous temples 12 miles (20 km)

    Starting with a kayak on the placid Lake Tonle Sap, you will paddle through floating villages and have lunch in a home on stilts in Kampong Kleang. After lunch you will visit the three main temples of the Roulous group built by the Khmers. The final dinner will be in one of Siem Reap’s oldest restaurants.

  • Day 5 (Sat): Depart from Siem Reap

    After breakfast take a transfer to the airport for your onward flight or stay on in Siem Reap.

Bike hire included

Mountain bikes & helmets are included in the tour.

The bikes have 24-27 gears with a lightweight alloy frame, front suspension, v-brakes and Shimano components.

Baby seats, tag-along bikes (for ages 5-11, max weight:38 kg) and child bikes (minimum height 100 cm) are available. You must be an experienced rider to pull a tag-along and preferably have experience with tag-alongs.

What will the group size be?

This tour will run with a minimum of 2 guests and a maximum of 16 guests. If the group is 9 people or more you will have two guides. 

Will I have a local guide?

Yes, your guide will be English speaking and local. The local guide will be a highlight of your tour as they are experienced and will pass on their knowledge and passion for their country. They will show you the best places to eat, help you meet local people along the way and give you a real feel for the local culture. 

Can I take a break from the cycling?

Yes, if you want to take a break, jump into the the support vehicle. 

Can you arrange my flights?

Flights are not included with our tours. However, we are more than happy to offer advice on long haul and regional flights, based on our extensive experience of travel in Asia.
