Cycling Holidays in Europe By Train
If you want to enjoy all of the delights of a cycling holiday, but don’t want to fly to get there, then this selection of tours is for you.
Whether you’re trying to reduce your environmental footprint, or just aren’t a fan of flying, there are many reasons why travelling by train is a great way to reach your destination, and for many of our cycling holidays, it’s remarkably easy too.
With the Eurostar from London, you can travel direct to Paris, Brussels, Amsterdam and even as far as the south of France, while Europe’s extensive network of high-speed trains connects you to even more popular destinations. For a change of pace, the European Sleeper overnight train connects Amsterdam and Brussels to Germany and the Czech Republic, extending your reach to our Prague, Dresden and Berlin bike tours. Alternatively, take a ferry across the channel to France or Holland and take an onward train from there. As Europe becomes more accessible by railway, find out how Freedom Treks customers are making the switch from plane to train.
All of our UK tours are easily accessible by train, with journey times from London ranging from under 2 hours for our Cotswolds tour to 6-8 hours for our tours in Scotland. We haven't included these below as you may live closer to the tour than to London!
Getting to the start point of your tour is often easier by train, as train stations are usually located in city centres as opposed to airports which can require a transfer. Read on for a selection of tours which are easy to reach by rail in as little as two hours from London.
