Make the most of your free day in Paris to explore its spectacular highlights at your leisure, such as the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, and Sacre Coeur. Enjoy cruising through the 19th century Parisian canals and moor in downtown Paris for the night.
Cycle next to the meandering Seine and Oise rivers and visit the beautiful Fontainebleau Castle and gardens. Pass through villages like Auvers-sur-Oise and Moret-sur-Loing that inspired the painters Van Gogh and Sisley.
Please note: This tour operates in reverse from Compiègne to Moret-sur-Loing on alternate weeks.

Day 1 (Sat):
Paris - Moret-sur-Loing
4 miles (7km)
Meet at the Gare du Nord railway station in Paris for a 2pm bus transfer to your floating hotel in the picturesque, medieval village of Moret-sur-Loing. Meet your crew and guide before enjoying your first evening meal with your fellow guests and a short first cycle ride to Saint Mammés.
Please note: This tour operates in reverse from Compiègne to Moret-sur-Loing on alternate weeks. Please make your own arrrangements to meet your boat, check-in is around 3pm.
Day 2 (Sun):
Moret-sur-Loing - Melun
28 miles (45km)
Cycle to the impressive castle and beautiful gardens of Château de Fontainebleau and continue along the River Seine, passing towns and villages including Héricy and Samois sur Seine. Arrive in the small provincial town of Melun and take a leisurely walk amongst it's historical buildings, churches and bridges.
Day 3 (Mon):
Melun - Vigneux sur Seine - Paris
31 miles (50 km)
Follow the river Seine and cross the woodland of Domaine de Senart to meet your barge at Vigneux sur Seine and cruise along the river to Paris. The barge moors for the night in the historic Bassin de Bastille, located in downtown Paris.
Day 4 (Tue):
Take the barge from Bassin de l’Arsenal to Bassin la Villette, an impressive cruise of around 2.5 hours on the Canal St. Martin, taking you alongside romantic bridges and through historic locks. Spend the rest of the day at leisure in France's fascinating capital, enjoy a spot of shopping or take in the highlights including the Eiffel Tower and museums such as Musée du Louvre and the Centre Pompidou.
Day 5 (Wed):
Paris/Bassin La Vilette - Bougival
25 miles (40km)
Starting in downtown Paris, enjoy an easy-going ride mainly on cycle lanes along the river Seine and partly across the famous Bois de Boulogne to the peaceful village of Bougival, your mooring-place for the night.
Day 6 (Thu):
Bougival - Auvers sur Oise - l'Isle Adam
25 miles (40km)
Pass the Château St. Germain-en-Laye and on through Conflans Ste Honorine, the French barging capital, to the village of Auvers sur Oise, where Vincent Van Gogh used to live and work. Re-join your barge and cruise to l’Isle Adam, a charming village situated on the banks of the river Oise.
Day 7 (Fri):
l'Isle Adam - Creil - Compiègne

Take the barge to the town of Creil, from where you start a scenic cycle ride alongside the river Oise to the imperial city of Compiègne. Local sights include the beautiful park, the Napoleon III Palace and the 13th century St. Jacques church. Enjoy a leisurely evening stroll in the town centre.
Day 8 (Sat):
After breakfast, say goodbye to your guide and crew and disembark the boat to make your way home or continue your holiday in France. The train to Paris Gare du Nord or Charles de Gaulle airport departs from Compiègne.
If your tour runs in reverse order from Compiègne to Moret sur Loing a bus transfer to Paris Gare du Nord is included on this day. You will be picked up at around 09.30am and arrive in Paris at around 11.30am.
Please note: The captain reserves the right to alter the itinerary due to changes in weather and other conditions.
Moret-sur-Loing - Compiègne
The barge Clair de Lune has been recently renovated and can accommodate up to 17 guests. 5 cabins have two split-level beds, 3 cabins have a double bed and one cabin is for single use. All cabins have their own en-suite shower and wc.

You will be collected at the Gare du Nord in Paris and transferred to your barge at Moret-sur-Loing.

How much space will I have in my cabin?
There is limited space in the cabins, so pack light and take a soft suitcase.
What is the average temperature on this tour?
Can I stay on the boat during the day and not cycle?
Yes, you can relax on the boat or explore when you arrive at each destination instead of cycling.
Can the boat cater for special dietary requirements?
Please advise us of any special requirements at time of booking and we will notify the boat operator in advance. Understandably, kitchen galley space is limited and it may not be possible to provide specialist products (eg. Gluten free). We suggest you bring a few items with you and, in some cases, these can be provided at a supplement.
Can I book by myself?
Absolutely! Boat & Bike tours are very sociable and a good choice for single travellers wishing to mix with other guests and share your common interest of cycling.
