What to expect
Visit North Holland in April and May to experience the magnificent colours and powerful perfume of its famous spring tulips and hyacinths. Look forward to leisurely cycling as you pedal along tulip-lined pathways and green riverbanks on this easy four day tour. Riding through typical Dutch landscapes of narrow dykes and polders, you’ll cycle past flower-filled fields and the only dyke in the world that’s registered as a national monument.
Quiet coast paths and peaceful green meadows make this a tranquil trip and you’ll pass traditional farmhouses, windmills and flocks of geese. A night in the city of Edam is a good excuse to try the region’s famous cheese and you have the choice of either taking a break from your bike and visiting the canals and world-class museums in Amsterdam, or riding to the 17th century mills and warehouses of one of Europe’s oldest industrial areas.
