Shropshire’s green hills are home to artisan food producers, small local breweries and family-run vineyards. This picturesque tour takes you on a relaxing ride through the region, visiting these traditional industries while staying in historic market towns and villages. Starting and finishing at Leintwardine on the banks of the River Teme, cycle next to rivers flowing through wide valleys and across open hills with fantastic views to Wales’ coastal mountains. Along the way, you’ll spend time in Bishop’s Castle on the Welsh border and in Ludlow in the heart of the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Stay for two nights in each location, allowing you to get to know your surroundings and to settle in to the comfortable hotels and inns. The cycling is rated easy (with options to cycle longer routes, making an easy to moderate tour) following quiet country roads with some gentle undulations and off-road sections. The three loop rides allow for shorter cycling days or full rest days if you prefer time to explore on foot. Every day gives you the opportunity to sample the local produce at farm shops, vineyards or breweries, making this tour a must for cycling foodies.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions about this tour. Simply click on a question to reveal the answer.

How do I get there?

For customers from the UK, drive to Leintwardine, where secure parking is available at the hotel for the first night, and then at the bike depot for the rest of the week. Ludlow is the closest station for those arriving by rail, then take a local bus or taxi to Leintwardine. For international customers, the closest airports are CardiffBirmingham or Bristol.

What is an 'Easy' cycling holiday?

Your days will involve gentle riding, mainly on flat terrain and with minimal effort required. Where there are low hills, the route will always take the easiest way up. Easy cycling holidays are suitable for most people whether you are a regular cyclist or not, however we recommend at least a few practice rides before your holiday! On this tour, there are longer route options available, which would make the tour an 'Easy to moderate' holiday.

We are always on hand to offer advice, so please give us a call if you wish to chat about the tour’s grading.

Do I have to cycle every day?

No! On days 2, 4 and 6 you won't be moving on to your next hotel, so the choice is yours whether you cycle or not. Either ride one of the suggested loop rides, or spend the day relaxing.
