Wonderful cities visited and manageable miles between each destination. Bikes were excellent and did us well. Hotels were mainly very good. Definitely download the google maps.

This was our first cycling holiday. Whilst not following the Danube closely for the whole six days, we cycled through some lovely countryside and really enjoyed the food and architecture of the different countries we visited. It was hard work and we were saddle sore at times, but we would totally recommend it if you like to be active on holiday. It felt like a real adventure.

Three beautiful European cities to explore; surprising and interesting ancient towns along the way with plenty to enjoy. On and off and over the mighty river Danube through arable fields, past nature reserves, wild flowers and butterflies dancing around us all the way - plus an unexpected swim in the clearest lake I've ever seen - THANK YOU FREEDOM TREKS, what a fabulous holiday!

This is a really enjoyable (and almost entirely flat) tour, completed by 14 friends of mixed cycling abilities and experience. A lot of the riding is on beautiful cycle paths alongside the Danube, but be aware there is also some off-road riding on gravel tracks and other unmade surfaces. My advice would be not to rely on the map book provided (which provides multiple opportunities for wrong turns!) but to get the route files and load them onto a GPS unit. The places visited are all interesting, and include one or two (Gyor, for example) which are gems we would never otherwise have visited. Note also that on cycling days 3 and 6, there are useful options regarding route lengths - on day 3, for example, some of our party cycled 28 miles and then caught a train, while the rest of us did the full 55 miles.

An excellent holiday which was well organised by Jess. We wanted to change a few things and she was very accommodating. Our luggage was always where it needed to be on each day and in good time. The map and instructions provided were good and we only got lost once! I would highly recommend it...

"Great tour! Really interesting places are visited, but please be aware the guide book, notes and maps are not in good English ie it felt like things were lost in translation, they also felt out of date. Some directions were just wrong. There was more riding on main roads with heavy traffic than anticipated. Overall we did have a great holiday, it would have been perfect if not for the difficulty with the guide book and notes. We cycled with people from all over the world which was wonderful! Accommodation was fine, we travelled category B, as you spend relatively little time at the hotels anyway." - Thanks for your feedback about the route notes. There will be a new route note book for 2018 as well as the option of GPS tracks. Saul, Freedom Treks

Overall the route was good, however the directios provided were difficult to follow, especially leaving and arriving at hotels. There should be more detailed information and street names provided. However a GPS would have solved a lot of issues. Overall we enjoyed ourselves and look forward to doing another tour in the future.

Interesting route with good stop-offs. Mileage each day fine. Was not clear that arrival time into Budapest was not until 6pm.

Many highlights, but we'll start with the lowlights! The first section from Vienna lay through a naturist reserve along the river banks. This would have been a delightful diversion, except that the people sunning themselves were far older even than I and seemed to be in the obese section of the BMI. Didn't much like Bratislava: the old city was spoiled by the sex shops and Thai Massage parlours that seemed to be on every street. Moreover, it was clearly a Stag Party destination, and there were many young men with 'monarch' beards and close-cropped hair conversing loudly in English. But Hainburg was a beautiful town, and the villages on the way, the restaurants in which we ate, Budapest itself were all delightful. On one of the riverside sections there were storks and on the way to Bratislava an immature adder crossed my path.

I am very glad we did the tour, the route was very flat so the longer distances were not a problem but there was more road cycling than I expected especially if you took the shorter routes.
