Fresh Nordic air, gentle terrain and sun-drenched days make the peaceful Turku archipelago perfect for a summer cycle tour. More than 20,000 small islands stretch out across calm waters and regular ferries make travelling between them easy. Starting and finishing in Finland’s oldest town of Turku, follow a circular route around the main islands, resting your legs between rides with scenic cruises.

From glistening bays and wooden boathouses, to pine trees and barren shorelines, each island has unique appeal. As you tour sandy beaches and craggy coasts, stop off at art galleries, wooden churches and waterside cafes. If you’re craving mainland culture try the castle and sophisticated riverboat restaurants of Turku town or, for unadulterated island peace, watching the midnight sun reflect across the water is hard to beat.
