Get up close and personal with the world’s most famous historic sparkling wine-producing region on this 4-night Bike & Bubbly Champagne cycling tour.

If you have ever celebrated with a glass of Champagne, then it could have only come from this northeast area of France, which has produced this recognised sparkling wine for centuries. Your cycle route will lead you through rolling countryside and acres upon acres of vineyards. Visit charming French wine-making villages, UNESCO World Heritage sites and renowned Champagne houses.

Starting (and ending) in Reims, the birthplace of Champagne, use your first day to explore the city’s historic streets and magnificent UNESCO World Heritage sites such as Reims Cathedral, and Basilique Saint-Remi - there are even Roman ruins here too!

It’s on your second day that you’ll embark on a fascinating circular cycle route of this huge Champagne-making region. Explore the Montagne de Reims National Park area, including Mailly Champagne, Verzenay, Bouzy, Tours sur Marne and Aÿ.

Highlights of this cycle tour include a stop at Hautvillers, where Dom Pérignon pioneered his sparkling wine in the 17th century, and a visit to Épernay’s Avenue de Champagne (a long street lined with historic Champagne houses), storing thousands of Champagne bottles. Descend into chalk-cave cellars to compare names such as Moet and Taittinger. And what’s a Champagne tour without sampling a little Champagne (payable locally), produced by small-scale winemakers - don’t miss the Red Champagne!
