Home to fairy-tale chateaux and luscious green vineyards, this enchanting region of France is wonderful to explore by bike. The pretty town of Amboise in the heart of the Loire Valley will be your base, where you’ll stay near the impressive riverside Château Royal d'Amboise and The Leonardo da Vinci Park. Each day, you’ll cycle away from Amboise, along the river and into the countryside on dedicated cycle paths, passing forests, vineyards and the stunning chateaux that earned this region its World Heritage status – Amboise alone has three!
With each excursion, you’ll discover the area’s fascinating history, culture and architecture. Visit stately homes with walled gardens adorned with climbing roses and step inside a castle complete with period furniture, enormous wall tapestries and painted ceilings. You’ll also visit various Touraine vineyards and have plenty of opportunity to sample some Vouvray wine.

Take the train (SNCF) from Amboise, then fly from Tours or Paris. Alternatively, take the Eurostar from Paris.
Some days will be flat, other days will have some modest hills. Easy to Moderate cycling holidays are suitable for most ages and degrees of fitness. We recommend that you have some previous cycling experience.
