Overview

What to expect

Circumnavigate one of Europe’s largest freshwater lakes, starting and finishing in the German city of Constance and following the sparkling shoreline through Austria and Switzerland. A well-signposted, car-free cycle path makes this an easy tour whatever your ability and you can take the day at a leisurely pace, resting your legs during short ferry rides.

Touring through green landscapes with a backdrop of the snow-capped Alps, you’ll stop off in enchanting towns and lakeside resorts, each with unique appeal – the medieval town of Stein am Rhein, the castle of Kirchberg and the Swiss harbour of Romanshorn are some of the best bits. The wooden slopes and nature reserves of the Höri Peninsula have inspired artists and writers for centuries.

Extending your tour by a day to visit Schaffhousen and Europe’s largest waterfalls is well worth it, for more details please see our Lake Constance & Rhine Falls tour.

Our first ever cycling tour and definitely one to remember. Beautiful scenery, good accommodation, fabulous weather, great bikes. An ideal way to see the sights at a leisurely pace. Some parts were more challenging than others for beginners like us and we did get lost a few times along the way. Local people were always helpful. Looking forward to another tour in the future. Thanks Freedom Treks.
