Surrounded by lush scenery and wooded hills, Passau sits at the confluence of the Danube, Inn and Ilz rivers. One of Germany’s most beautiful cities, with the Danube and Inn cycle paths leading out to the countryside, it makes a perfect base for this leisurely cycle break. A flexible itinerary allows you to pick and choose between different daily routes, using local ferries to cross the river or return to Passau by boat.
The dramatic beauty of the Danube Loop is one of the highlights and, as you pedal towards the two castles at Werstein, you’ll zigzag across the German-Austrian border. Engelszell Abbey and the Benedictine monastery at Schweiklberg are two more of the area’s striking landmarks and, if you fancy a rest day, the pretty old town and enormous cathedral organ in Passau are not to be missed.

Take the train (ÖBB) to Munich and Fly from Munich airport.
Your days will involve gentle riding, mainly on flat terrain and with minimal effort required. Easy cycling holidays are suitable for most people whether you are a regular cyclist or not, however we recommend at least a few practice rides before your holiday!
