What to expect
Stay on the shores of Lake Garda and look forward to a perfect combination of waterside cycling, World Heritage cities, mouth-watering cuisine and excellent Italian wines. Returning to your hotel each evening, you’ll really get under the skin of the historic port town of Desenzano, with its lovely promenades and winding alleys, or the ancient cobbled town of Sirmione, which sits on a peninsula. The cycle route follows quiet roads and well-marked tracks – some sections are more demanding than others but an electric bike will give you a boost on the uphills and there’s the option of a rest day by the lake.
As you cycle through the Italian countryside, you’ll pass peach orchards, kiwi plantations and cypress-topped hills. You’ll ride along beautiful riverside trails through world-class vineyards and cycle away from the lake to reach the cultural centres of Trento, Verona and Mantua. Take your time exploring the Renaissance palaces, enchanting streets and stylish boutiques in these cities, before returning to your base on Lake Garda.
