The Trip

  • Day 1: Arrive in Costa Teguise

Make your way from Arrecife airport to Costa Teguise and enjoy the beautiful beach.

  • Day 2: Costa Teguise - Haría 21-32 miles (34-52km)

Cycle inland and take the opportunity to visit Manrique’s famous works such as El Jardín de Cactus, Los Jameos del Agua, El Mirador del Río which form an integral part of the volcanic landscape. Today, you will also have the opportunity to visit the volcanic cave of La Cueva de los Verdes. Cycle through fishing villages before arriving in the picturesque village of Haría.

  • Day 3: Haría - San Bartolomé 18/28 miles (29/43km)

Cycle away from Haría along the coast towards Teguise, the one-time capital of the island, with typical architecture. From here you continue towards San Bartolomé and the fascingating wine-producing area of La Geria.

  • Day 4: San Bartolomé 31 miles (50km)

Today you can choose to relax and stay in San Bartolomé or you can enjoy a loop cycle tour. The route will take you towards the beautiful beach of Famara with the spectacular backdrop of volcanic cliffs. After following the coast, you head across extensive lava fields and a lunar landscape back to San Bartolomé.

  • Day 5: San Bartolomé - Playa Blanca 29/36 miles (47/58km)

Todays cycle will take you towards Lanzarote's main attraction, the Parque Nacional de Timanfaya. This is where Lanzarote’s volcanic nature is at its most spectacular. The eruptions of 1730 – 1736 buried around a quarter of the whole island, including several villages, and gave rise to the impressive lava and volcano landscape that we see today. From here you will cycle to the south of the island, stopping en route to visit the seaside volcanic crater of El Golfo before you reach the seaside village of Playa Blanca.

  • Day 6: Playa Blanca 20/43 miles (36/70km)

Playa Blanca sits at the very south of the island and looks across to Fuerteventura. Today can take a boat across to Corralejo and enjoy a visit or a ride on another island. Alternatively, you can enjoy a day in Playa Blanca and take the opportunity to visit the nearby coves and beaches of Papagayo, the best on the island and unspoilt by tourism.

  • Day 7: Playa Blanca - Arrecife 30 miles (47km)

Todays cycle will take you across the dramatic hills of Femés before heading to the wine country of La Geria.  Here, the unusual vineyard cultivation techniques have given rise to a fascinating landscape not to be seen anywhere else in the world, and producing some fine wines. You will then descend to the coast and  follow  a nice promenade from Puerto del Carmen to Arrecife.

  • Day 8: Depart from Arrecife

    Check out after breakfast.

Lanzarote is certainly different! The scenery was spectacular - both the black, barren interior and the dramatic coast. The roads are excellent and we covered all the longest and hardest route options. My wife and I are in our mid-60s but cycle regularly so had no problems with the distances, though some of the climbs were a bit tougher than expected - but definitely worth the effort and the amazing views.

Had a wonderful time over December/January 2018. Short flights from UK, winter weather a comfortable 22+C, scenery outstanding, comfortable hotels, well thought-through routes, reliable bikes etc. My wife and I had a very enjoyable and relaxing holiday (despite being middle-aged & far from ‘match fit’!); happy to recommend this to anyone as a stress-free way to experience the whole island. Great fun
