Walking and Cycling in Austria
Austria, famous for its beautiful mountain scenery, lies at the very centre of Europe. It is one of the most scenic countries in all of Europe with its towering Alps and their foothills stretching across the western, southern, and central parts of the country. Austria is blessed with many lovely, mirrorlike lakes with thick forests covering much of the country's land.
The people are friendly too. They enjoy a peaceful life, excellent food – the delicious cakes and pastries created by Austrian bakers are world famous. In some of the smaller towns and villages, traditional clothing may still be worn.
As well as the Danube cycle path, Austria is fortunate enough to harbour some of Europe’s finest cycling routes. The diversity of the landscapes, the clean air, a far-reaching network of cycling routes that are meticulously signposted, make cycling in Austria pure enjoyment.
