Experience the best of Portugal's countryside and immerse yourself in a relaxed, rural way of life on this tour of the Alentejo Region.

Ride six diverse cycle routes, visiting some of Europe's largest and oldest megalithic monuments. Ride past Roman ruins, discover ancient watermills and take in the views from hilltop castles. A region of rich gastronomy, you’ll have time to stop off at wine cellars and traditional villages renowned for their rustic meat pies, olives and fresh herbs. The World Heritage sites of Évora and the city’s 14th-century walls, winding streets and excellent restaurants are a highlight.

You will stay in a typical Alentejo farmhouse. Enjoy the tranquillity of the farmhouse with four uniquely themed rooms, based 5 miles out of town and equipped with a pool and ample outdoor seating space.

If you’re looking for a short break, take a look at the four-night version of this tour.

Accommodation

Alentejo farmhouse

Alentejo Farmhouse

The tranquil Alentejo farmhouse base is approximately 5 miles (8km) outside the town of Évora. The accommodation has four en-suite rooms, all uniquely decorated with locally inspired themes each with its own outside seating area. The lounge area has a large fireplace, TV and games for the family. The kitchen is used by the staff to prepare your meals along with an “honesty bar” of snacks and refreshments. The dining area opens up to a beautiful view of the orange trees, where the fruit is picked for your freshly squeezed orange juice at breakfast. The house also has a pool, serving as a welcome refreshment after a day’s cycling.
