Experience the best of Portugal’s countryside and immerse yourself in a relaxed, rural way of life on this tour of the Alentejo Region.

Ride six diverse cycle routes, visiting some of Europe’s largest and oldest megalithic monuments. Ride past Roman ruins, discover ancient watermills and take in the views from hilltop castles. A region of rich gastronomy, you’ll have time to stop off at wine cellars and traditional villages renowned for their rustic meat pies, olives and fresh herbs. The World Heritage sites of Évora and the city’s 14th-century walls, winding streets and excellent restaurants are a highlight.

You will have three nights staying in a typical Alentejo farmhouse and four nights in a stylish apartment in Évora. Enjoy the tranquillity of the farmhouse with four uniquely themed rooms, based 6 miles out of town and equipped with a pool and ample outdoor seating space. Your second base for the tour will be in a newly refurbished apartment right in the heart of Évora, close to vibrant restaurants and interesting attractions.

If you’re looking for a short break, take a look at the four-night version of this tour.

3 nights in an Alentejo farmhouse & 4 nights in an apartment in Évora

Alentejo Farmhouse

The tranquil Alentejo farmhouse base is approximately 5 miles (8km) outside the town of Évora. The accommodation has four en-suite rooms, all uniquely decorated with locally inspired themes each with its own outside seating area. The lounge area has a large fireplace, TV and games for the family. The kitchen is used by the staff to prepare your meals along with an “honesty bar” of snacks and refreshments. The dining area opens up to a beautiful view of the orange trees, where fruit is picked for your freshly squeezed orange juice at breakfast. The house also has a pool, serving as a welcome refreshment after a day’s cycling.

Apartment in Evora –2 bedrooms (B&B)

Once a bakery, this beautifully restored apartment in the heart of Evora is in the perfect spot on a quiet street just 3 minutes’ walk from Praça do Giraldo and the roman temple. The two rooms have private bathrooms with hairdryers and the property includes a bar, lounge and kitchen. You will get the 2 bedroom apartment to yourselves. For a truly special dinner experience, book a table at the famous Taberna Típica.
