January

Thailand's Coasts - Bangkok to Khao Lak Bike Tour

We say:  Experience a magnificent ten days as you cycle past incredible beaches, tropical islands, hot springs, waterfalls, plantations and much, much more! The average daily distances are shorter, around 35km, leaving you more time to indulge in the culture by meeting locals, eating delicious Thai food and generally exploring!

Much like December, when my partner Saul, our son James, and I cycled this tour, January is a fantastic month for exploring Thailand by bike with reliably sunny, dry and favourable cycling conditions.

Freedom Treks customers say: “The entire trip was fantastic. From the cycling to the food, to the culture, to the knowledge of our guide leader, everything was superb. Top tip: This is partially a cycling holiday and partly a dining holiday. Plan to enjoy daily Thai food.” - Don Clayton

“The tour exceeded expectations in almost every respect. The guides (Bird & Korn) and the drivers/supporters (Sunny & Rin) went the extra mile to ensure that all our needs were catered for and that we had a safe, comfortable and enjoyable trip. The bikes were perfect for the style of trip - the food was exceptional and the ‘snack stops’ included many varieties of fruit and local delicacies along with cereal bars and energy drinks. You will certainly not go hungry!” - Mark Griffiths

February

Mallorca Bike Tour

We say: February is a wonderful time to cycle in Mallorca as the mild winter weather and quieter roads create the ideal conditions for cycling. From the saddle, you can enjoy a mix of coastal routes and gentle climbs through rugged mountains, taking in sweeping Mediterranean views, UNESCO-listed mountains and peaceful villages along the way.

I loved every minute of my time pedalling this loop in June, but I missed a trick not visiting in February! The landscape feels especially vibrant at this time of year, and the almond blossom season - running from late January until mid-March - adds an extra touch of colour to the countryside. Combined with rich local culture, fresh seafood and rewarding, varied cycling terrain, February is one of the best months to enjoy Mallorca.

“A thoroughly enjoyable tour around Mallorca, generally on beautiful, quiet lanes. The rides each day were satisfyingly long, but with plenty of time for lazy lunches and exploring the pretty villages. There were a few hills, but nothing too challenging. Highly recommended." - Brenda Herbert

We say: Cycling the Kyushu Coast in March offers a perfect blend of Japan's rich culture, delicious cuisine and inspiring nature during the spring. With gentle climbs on the island and an average of 55 km (34 miles) per day in the saddle, this tour is best suited to confident cyclists who are looking for a moderately challenging journey.

The two departure dates for 2026 fall during late March, which conveniently aligns with Japan’s iconic sakura cherry blossoms in full bloom - a real springtime highlight.

Holland's Tulips, Windmills and Historic Cities Bike Tour

We say: During these cold, grey months, why not put a splash of colour on your horizon? Our Holland's Tulips, Windmills and Historic Cities Bike Tour is a fantastic short break that takes you through spectacular tulip fields as you cycle from Haarlem to Leiden and back up to Amsterdam. And if you want to spend a day at the world-famous Keukenhof flower exhibition, we recommend booking an extra night in Leiden.

Freedom Treks customers say: “The Holland Tulips Bike Tour was one of our bucket list items and the reality exceeded our expectations. The tour routes were carefully planned to provide great scenery. Luggage transfers worked perfectly and the hotel accommodations were comfortable.” - Sterling Bennett

“Thank you for arranging our first Freedom Treks trip, which was a three-day trip through the Dutch countryside and bulb fields. We had a fabulous time and couldn't fault it in any way. Hotels were all good, transfer of luggage was really efficient, every hotel we arrived at was expecting us and had our luggage and rooms ready. The bikes were great. We had electric ones and that was great for us and made it more enjoyable. We couldn't believe how good all the cycle tracks were, with very few being on roads, but even then, we felt safe and still ensconced within the country. Kurkenhof is a must. Everyone was really friendly in the hotels, as you meet lots of fellow cyclists at breakfast and check-ins. We will definitely book another trip.” - Caroline Reynolds

Alpe Adria Cycle Path - Salzburg to Grado Bike Tour

We say: Experience the best of two European gems by spending three days soaking up the staggering scenery in Austria’s dramatic Alps before finishing down on Italy's sparkling Adriatic coast. The varied route follows well-marked paths and quiet roads, passing rivers, waterfalls, historic towns and magnificent castles, often along old railway tracks and through scenic tunnels. With moderate climbs in the mountains and cruisy flat paths along the coast, following the Alpe Adria cycle path is best experienced in the early summer sunshine.

Freedom Treks customers say: “A superb trip: good quality bikes, wonderful and varied scenery, excellent accommodation and great support on the ground and, digitally, via the App. Would we book another trip with Freedom Treks? Without question, yes! Top tip: Don’t be put off by the thought of the climbs during the first few days - easily negotiable with e-bikes! Consider spending a few days in Grado at the end of your trip - there is lots more to explore by bike in the surrounding area.” - Julie Keen

“We thoroughly enjoyed our Alpe Adria trip - our first cycling holiday. Everything fell into place the way it was expected and gave us the time to simply enjoy the trip and appreciate the journey, the people and the places. The hotels were excellent choices - and would stay in many again if ever back in that part of the world.” - David Collie

We love the tranquillity and beauty of the islands, along with the flexibility of all the different cycle options. Bruges to Amsterdam Hotel & Bike Tour

We say: For easy-going cycle paths that are perfect for leisurely summer cycling, there’s no better choice than our Bruges to Amsterdam Hotel & Bike Tour. Starting in the charming medieval city of Bruges, you’ll meander through historic towns and national parks, alongside tree-lined canals and, of course, past the 19 iconic windmills at the UNESCO World Heritage site, Kinderdijk.

The summer months are popular as they offer the best chance of sunny skies in the Netherlands and Belgium. For a wider range of dates, this tour is also available in reverse order, starting in Amsterdam - the route my family and I thoroughly enjoyed cycling back in May 2025.

Best of Slovenia Bike Tour - Lakes to the Coast

We say: This is one of our favourite tours, as it has it all; spectacular mountains, picture-postcard lakes, dramatic valleys, cities and a stunning ending in Piran. Gentle inclines, flatter stretches and an optional uplift make for enjoyable, moderate riding, while the surrounding scenery shifts from alpine villages and waterfalls to rocky limestone peaks and rolling vineyards. My personal highlights from cycling this tour back in 2013 include venturing into the world’s most visited cave system, swimming in clear mountain lakes, exploring historic castles, experiencing vibrant city culture in Ljubljana, and soaking in pleasant Mediterranean waters that have been warming up all summer.

Freedom Treks customers say:  “Superb trip. Lovely route through Slovenia. Excellent hotels. Baggage transfers worked like clockwork. A great way to discover the country. Exceeded expectations. Top tip: Make sure you have a handlebar mount for your phone.” - Bob Elmes

“Highly recommended! A wonderful array of Slovenian landscapes to discover on this tour - a real undiscovered gem. The local agent was well organised with good route descriptions and suggestions. Mainly on cycle paths or non-busy roads, though some inevitably busier roads, but Slovenian drivers are very cycle-friendly from our experience. Luggage transfers occurred without incident. As commented by others, the climb on day three could be a challenge for the less experienced/fit cyclists, but the option of an e-bike or transport is worthwhile for the lovely and picturesque downhill that follows!” - Richard Ingle

Umbria Discovery Bike Tour

We say: Offering a rewarding journey through Italy’s green heart, with demanding hills, mountain landscapes, and charming hilltop towns, our Umbria Discovery Bike Tour is a brilliant option for an autumn cycling holiday. Pedal through cypress-lined valleys, enjoying flowing descents after satisfying climbs. The already stunning region is painted with autumnal colours, adding another layer to the spectacular scenery. Each village - from the stone streets of Spello to Torgiano’s isolated tower - offers unique cultural experiences, local crafts, and authentic cuisine, while the vibrant town of Assisi provides a perfect start and finish, with sun-drenched terraces, local wine, and fresh pasta to reward a ride totalling 316 km (196 miles).

If you're too short on time to cover over 300 km (186 miles), our Umbrian Escape Bike tour is an excellent 5-day easier alternative.

Freedom Treks customers say: “The tour of Umbria was outstanding. Whilst the climbing was challenging, the rewards were immense. The scenery in this part of Italy is magnificent and the route allowed us a complete experience of this region.” - Alexander Bennet

“The countryside can be breathtaking and rides through small (and larger) villages were more than a worldly experience (Ciao Spello and Perugia!). Most every end-of-day accommodation was welcoming and wonderful. Bags were always waiting for us at the next destination and Paolo was a lively and humorous communicator. The hotel In Torgiano (Hotel Al Grappolo d'Oro) was cut well above the others, although none disappointed. It was great that the tour included a 2-days stay in Torgiano as it allowed for not only a great ride to and from Perugia literally through olive groves, but also for a little more luxury when we got back to the hotel to enjoy a refreshing beverage poolside. The history of Umbria is more than alluring, and we were lucky to have 3 fully sunny days before the clouds came in. Country roads were typically the order of the day with an opportunity to see firsthand the Umbrian / Italian country lifestyle. And to see, day after day the rolling hills and valleys such as those viewed as we rode between Lake Trasimeno and Umbertide are lodged in our memories forever.” - Steve Watkins

Lanzarote Bike Tour - Land of the Volcanoes

We say: Take a loop of Lanzarote through unique and spectacular volcanic landscapes. You'll cycle past wildly varying terrain with beaches, mountains, caves and geysers all lining your path. On day 6, there's the option to catch a boat to the stunning island of Fuerteventura and enjoy a 70 km (43 miles) ride on this iconic island. Being so far south, we highly recommend it as a winter cycling destination when the island is quieter and temperatures are cooler - though not so cool as at home, and with plenty of blue skies overhead as you cycle!

Freedom Treks customers say: "Our tour was fantastic. The organisation of the minibus collecting us from the airport and transporting our luggage every day was fantastic. The hotels were lovely and the included meals were fantastic. The unheated swimming pools were refreshing and very lovely. The routes were demanding, but beautiful, and we really saw Lanzarote. The island is a Mecca for elite cyclists and we were passed by teams from Switzerland, Germany and France… We found lovely restaurants everywhere and ate a lot of fish!" - Laura Hutchins-Payne

"This was the second time we had done this tour and we enjoyed it just as much as the first. The roads in Lanzarote are generally very good for cycling and the scenery is amazing." - Sally Novell

Spice Trails of Sri Lanka - Elephants

Freedom Treks customers say: ”Our Sri Lankan cycle tour was excellent in every respect and we had one of our best ever holidays. The balance of amazing cycling and built-in cultural experiences made the trip so much more than our usual self-guided trip. The cycling guides were brilliant and the support vehicle set up ensured that we were always kept fuelled and watered and had the option to bail out should the need arise. The Sri Lankan countryside and wildlife was amazing, and the hotels were all stunning and in prime locations. The mountain bikes were all in excellent condition and geared well for the route. To cap it all, we shared the trip with a wonderfully friendly and sociable group of fellow cyclists who we may well see again.” - Chris Kilpatrick

“This was a fantastic tour in every way: great (traffic-free) cycle routes through a variety of stunning scenery, interesting breaks each day (including safaris, sites such as Sigirya Rock and so much more), and a high standard of accommodation. This exceeded our expectations, especially as we have done several cycle tours over Asia and Europe - this trip simply is unbeatable. This was the perfect way to travel through and immerse yourself in Sri Lanka, which has to be one of the most beautiful and friendly places in the world. Top tip: Don't Hesitate - book this tour now… You won't be disappointed! It's the trip of a lifetime!” - Colin Summers
